3 Mothers Day Verses to Use In Your Mother’s Day Card

Simply Said With Karen Posted on May 12, 2021 by Karen GilbertMay 18, 2021

3 Mother’s Day Verses to use in your card to your Mom.  Unfortunately, my mother passed away in November 2020.  She was always very appreciative of the cards that I gave her.  I am sure that she has them all.

I did make 2 cards because I have a DD and DDL to give them to, and used the new Stampin’ Up! Pansy Patch stamp set.

Further down this post you will find 3 Mother’s Day verses that you may want to use in your cards.

3 Mothers Day Verses

Mothers Day Card Recipe

Stamps: Pansy Patch, Itty Bitty Greetings, Peaceful Moments

Ink; Evening Evergreen, Fresh Freesia, Evening Evergreen, Basic White (Thick), Basic White, Soft Succulent, Bumble Bee, Pale Papaya.

Paper: including measurements Thick Basic White (8-1/2″ x 5-1/2″ scored at 4-1/4″  and  burnished with a Bone Folder), Basic White 3-1/2″ x 4-5/8″ , 4-1/4″ 3-1/4″ and scraps for for flowers, leaves and sentiment), Pansy Petals Designer Series Paper (5-1/2″ x 4-1/4″)

Accessories: Stampin’ Emboss & Cut Machine, Pansy Dies, Stitched So Sweetly Dies, Lovely Labels Pick A Punch, Blender Brushes, Bumblebee Trinkets.

How to Create This Card

  • Use the Stampin’ Emboss & Cut machine and the Stitched So Sweetly Die which fits the smaller basic white panel, to cut the paper.  Use a Blending Brush and Pale Papaya ink, and add ink to panel.
  • On a piece of Basic White, stamp the pansies, leaves, small flower and die cut.  See the video below.
  • Attach the  DSP to the card base, the plain Basic White to the DSP and the stitched Basic White panel.
  • Arrange the pansies and leaves on the sponged panel.  When you are happy with the arrangement, attach the flowers and leaves to the panel.
  • Stamp the sentiment on Basic White. Use the punch to punch the sentiment.  Punch another slightly larger from Evening Evergreen paper.  Attach the two pieces together and use Dimensionals to attach to front of card.
  • Attach the bumble bee with a Glue Dot.

Here are the 3 verses for your Mother’s Day cards.  I hope you enjoy what it is that I have chosen for you.

Pansy Petals Suite Creates A Wonderful Colorful Garden Attracts the Bumblebees

Simply Said With Karen Posted on May 6, 2021 by Karen GilbertMay 12, 2021

The Pansy Petals Suite creates a wonderful colorful garden, which will attract the bumblebees. Bumblebees are endangered due to various predators and diseases, so if there is anything we can do to help them out, then we need to.  Bees are hard workers as they go about pollenating our food and flowers.

Petal Pansy Suite

This suite comes with beautiful designer series paper which has various shades of the 2021-2023 In Colors, such as Evening Evergreen, Fresh Freesia, Pale Papaya, Polished Pink. and Soft Succulent. As well there are matching dies to cut the images, and you can also use the dies to build pieces of the pansies so that you can create your own as I did here.

Pansy Petals Suite

Pansy Petals Cart Recipe

Accessories:  Stampin Emboss & Cut Machine, Pansy Dies, Ornate Layers Dies, Artistry Blooms Adhesive Backs Sequins, Fresh Freesia Open Weave Ribbon, Banners Pick a Punch..

Create The Pansy Flower and Leaves

  • Cut 2 edges and the middle part  from the Blackberry Bliss.  Cut 2 petals  and the smaller edging from Fresh Freesia, the smaller petals from Basic White, the center of the flower from Bumble Bee.
  • Cut the upper part leaves from the Evening Evergreen, and the large leaves from Soft Succulent.
  • For the accent flower, cut the stem and flower bottom from Evening Evergreen, and the under portion from Blackberry Bliss  and the contrast from Fresh Freesia.

See the video, it shows you how to stamp the pansies  in this post

  • Glue the Blackberry Bliss middle part of the flower to the white petals and attach the yellow center. Attach the darker green to the lighter green and glue under the pansy.

Triangle Fun Fold Card Uses Last Chance Items – Snail Mail Suite

Simply Said With Karen Posted on April 15, 2021 by Karen GilbertApril 18, 2021

The Triangle Fun Fold Card is something new or at least new to me ,to stretch your creativity and it’s not hard to do.  Actually, the fun fold can save you some time as you will cut and score 2 cards at the same time.  The Snail Mail Suite is so sweet, ok, pun intended, and it is suitable to big and little people, and older or younger people.  You will notice I didn’t write old people.  So many of our elders are young and heart and would love a card like this one. There is only 1 little tricky bit but I will get to that further on down  –  nothing to worry about, you can do it.

Triangle Fund Fold Card

Snail Mail Card Recipe

Supplies

Stamp Sets: Snailed It.

Inks: Memento Black Tuxedo, Pool Party

Paper: Basic White, Bermuda Bay, Real Red,  Snail Mail Designer Series Paper.

Accessories: Stampin’ Cut Emboss Folder, Snail Dies, Layering Circle Dies, Stampin Blends: Dark Daffodil Delight, Crumb Cake Duo, Light Real Red, Bronze, Light Seafoam, Rectangular Postage Stamp Punch, Resin Hearts.

Cutting Measurements

Basic White: – 8-1/2″ x 11″, 3″ x 3″,, Scrap.

Bermuda Bay: 4″ x 5-1/4″, 3-1/2″ x 3-1/2″.

Real Red: 4″ x 5-1/4″

Snail Mail Designer Series Paper: 4: x 5-1/4″. Use two different patterns.  Make sure that one or both pattern patterns are suitable to be turned in any direction and will still work.  A one-way pattern. will result in one panel being upside down.

Card Assembly

  • You will have enough material to make 2 cards.
  • Score the 8-1/2″ x11″ cardstock at 5-1/2″, on the 11″ side, turn and score at 4-1/4″, as per sketch.

Triangle fun fold

Triangle Fun Fold

  • Line up the cardstock in the cutter with one corner in the top cutter groove and the opposite corner in bottom cutter groove.  You will need to wiggle the paper so that the dot at the center where the 2 score lines intersect.  Now, cut the cardstock.  You will likely have to use a pair of scissors to finish cutting to the corners.
  • Fold and burnish the score line at the 4-1/4″.

triangle fun fold

  • Prepare the panels for the triangle card base. Cut the designer series paper and the cardstock panel , corner -to-corner.  If you are using a pattern paper with a design going up or down, you are going to have to have 2 pieces of designer series paper and/or cardstock.
  • If you don’t want to worry about the pattern direction, use a pattern that is not directional.

Triangle Fun Fold

  • Now it’s times to create the art image.
  • Stamp the snail or other image on the Basic White and die cut with Layering Circle Dies.  Cut a scalloped circle 2 sizes larger from the Real Red card stock.
  • Use the Stampin’ Blends to colour the snail.  You can also use the Stampin’ Write Markers or the Pencil Crayons and the Blender Brush or ink and the water brushes.  The choice is yours.
  •  Attach the small circle and the large circle with Multi-Purpose Liquid Glue or Stampin’ Seal.
  • Use Stampin’ Dimensionals to attach the art image to the card front. Put the dimensionals on the left-hand side of the circle.  This prevents the circles being attached the right  triangle.
  • Attach several hearts from the Resin Hearts embellishment to the card front and finish the inside with a sentiment or another strip of Designer Series Paper.
  • You can stamp a sentiment on Basic White cardstock and punch with the Rectangular Postage Stamp Punch.

So, there you have it, a triangle fun fold card created using Last Chance Products.

Say Good-Bye to Some of Our Favorite Products – It’s Good & Bad News

Simply Said With Karen Posted on April 2, 2021 by Karen GilbertApril 2, 2021

Say Good-Bye to some of our favourite Stampin’ Up! products.  Yes, there is good and there is bad about this statement.

Last Chance Products

The bad is that some of our most favourites will be gone as well.   .  Here are some of the ones that I consider  my go-tos

  • Beauty Abound stamp & matching dies,
  • Stitched Shapes Dies,
  • Well Said Stamps & Dies,
  • Zany Zebras.
  • All the 2019-2021 In Colours and their coordinating cardstock, inks, ink refills and embellishments are on the chopping block. These are just a sample of the products that are leaving.
  • All the Designer Series Papers will be gone, except for the In Good Taste Designer Series Paper.

The list goes on and on.  So, over the next several weeks, I will be posting projects which use these products.  There  will also be a link to the discontinued list, as items sell out and they won’t be restocked.  …

So, as the saying goes “don’t be disappointed” and have to say Good-bye… The Last Chance List will be available to download and print out at the bottom of this post.  Stampin’ Up! will not  be updating the list when products sell out.  You can go to my ONLINE Store to see whether the product you want to order is still available.

Doing Amazing Things – Fancy Fold for the Canada Inks Up Blog Hop

Simply Said With Karen Posted on March 24, 2021 by Karen GilbertMarch 23, 2021

Doing amazing things deserves an amazing card. Today I am participating in a Canada inks up blog hop. It’s an inaugural event, and I am happy to participate.  If all goes well, perhaps we will do another one. The card featured in this blog hop uses the Hydrangea Haven Suite. This suite is very pretty and it reminds me of a garden.  This type of garden will have to do as there are no green thumbs on my hand.

doing an amazing things There is a full tutorial than you can copy and paste and possibly download if I can get the pdf to load up and then download

.

doing amazing things

Use The Stamparatus to Make 2- Step Stamping Easy

  • The stamp is a photopolymer, so that means it is a clear stamp and makes 2-step stamping easier to accomplish.  In case you don’t know or perhaps have never heard of a photopolymer stamp, you probably know clear stamps.   Because the stamps are clear and because 2-step stamping requires one image to get stamped over another.  Not, to say that you cannot do this technique with the rubber stamps.
  • Use the stamps with the Stamparatus, Stampin’ Up!’s positioning tool.  What you do is: place the stamp on your cardstock and close the lid of the Stamparatus and then open the lid.  The stamp is now ready to be used, so ink it up with your choice of colour and then lower the lid again.  Lift the lid and Voila!! You have an image exactly where you intended.  Now, layer the matching stamp that will give you more definition on the previous image.  Try and get it aligned as close as possible.  Lower the lid, open it up and ink up the stamp.  Lower it and stamp.  Now you have a dimensional image.

The tutorial for the fancy fold card can be found HERE

Sharing Customer Card Creations. Could I Share Yours?

Simply Said With Karen Posted on March 15, 2021 by Karen GilbertMarch 15, 2021

Sharing customer card creations, acknowledges their creativity.  So, today’s post focuses on some cute cards created by Joan Parker.  I am very pleased that she gave me permission to feature her cards.

As a Stampin’ Up! demonstrator, i have the opportunity to pass on my knowledge to others, and, it is always satisfying to see, what they are creating. SU has a mission statement that is near and dear to my heart. It’s called the STATEMENT OF THE HEART, how appropriate.

Sharing Customer Card Creations

As you read, listen to the words, they do have meaning for anyone who does anything and loves doing it.  That makes sense right? Although, sometimes we do things that don’t make us happy.  However, if you create things that makes us happy, then, why not share it.  When I demonstrate a class, I hope that I am helping others to enjoy their creativity.

Darling Donkey Stamp Set

So, drum roll please, here are Joan’s cards that she created. Both cards use the Darling Donkey stamp set that was featured in  this  year’s Sale-a-Bration, which, sadly ended on February 28th.Sharing a customers card creation

The sentiment says it all for this card.  Do you have someone in your life who is the best? Let them know that is how you feel.

The second card is a witty birthday card, incorporating words and images.  See what I mean.

sharing customers greeting cards

Do you recognize the humor in this card?

It’s amazing what people can create when given the time, place, space and tools.

One place that you hone your paper crafting skills is to take part in my classes.  We are still unable to meet in person, although it is getting closer. However, you can do a class with me on ZOOM or there are ONLINE CLASSES featuring videos.  Watch for the ZOOM class being offered on March 27, 2021.  You can contact me via EMAIL.

I hope that you enjoyed this post about sharing customer card creations,  I would love to share your creations.

Card for a Friend featuring the Forever Fern Stamp Set

Simply Said With Karen Posted on February 8, 2021 by Karen GilbertFebruary 8, 2021

Card for a friend can be a wonderful gesture to lift their spirits. With COVID 19, our social bubbles are shrinking. Now, more than ever it’s important to keep in touch with those we consider our friends. Life sometimes gets in the way and prevents us from reaching out.

Reaching out to shut-ins who can’t get out even to go to the grocery store is important. My Dad is a shut-in and after my Mom died in November , he needs interaction with people. After all, they were together for 75 years. That’s a long time to be with someone and then all of a sudden not to have their company, My Brother and I do the best we can and try to go see him as much as we can. However we do talk on the phone nearly every day, even if it’s “how are you doing and what did you have for supper last night”. This card is perfect for someone who needs to feel important to us.

Create a Card for a Friend

Friendship Card Recipe

Stamp Set: Forever Fern.

Ink: Garden Green, Pear Pizzazz

Paper: Whisper White, Soft Seafoam, Garden Green, Forever Greenery Designer Series Paper.

Accessories: Stampin’ Emboss & Cut Machine, Greenery Embossing Folder, Forever Flourishing Dies, Layering Circle Dies, Forever Gold Laser Cut Specialty Paper, Gold Hoops, Forever Green Trim Combo Pack, Gold Glitter Enamel Dots, Old Olive Dark Stampin’ Blends,

Details for Building the Card

  1. Do not mount the front panel on the card base until you have attached the trim.
  2. With the Stampin’ Emboss & Cut Machine, emboss on the Soft Seafoam cs, with the embossing flower that has the pattern at the top & Bottom.
  3. Attach to the center of the Designer Series Pane. Stamp with Garden Green Ink and Old Olive in on Whisper White cs, with a couple of the leaf stamps, Die cut the leaf bundles.
  4. Attach a panel from the Gold Laser Cut Specialty Paper ( I used the 5 sided one with the leaves),On top of the leaves attach the stamped and die cut leaves at a diagonal (one on the top, and one on the bottom – see photo)
  5. Color the trim with the Dark Old Olive Stampin’ Blend – use the brush end. Attach across the center of the card panel. Now, adhere to the Whisper White card base.
  6. Cut a circle from the Old Olive cardstock using the layering Circle Dies. Measure the Gold Hoop that will use and try to get close to the same size circle die. Use Multipurpose Liquid Glue to the Gold Hoop and attach to the Old Olive Circle. Stamp the sentiment on Whisper White with Old Olive ink. Cut with a smaller circle than the Old Olive one and attach to Old Olive circle.
  7. Adhere with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  8. Attach the Gold Glitter Enamel Dots to various places on the card front. REMEMBER AN ODD NUMBER IS ESTHETICALLY PLEASING.

So, now you can create a card for a friend and cheer up their day. Mail it or drop-off if possible.

Care & Storage for Stampin’ Blends and other Alcohol Markers.

Simply Said With Karen Posted on February 3, 2021 by Karen GilbertFebruary 3, 2021

Care & storage for Stampin’ Blends and other types of alcohol markers is important to practice. When we spend our hard earned money on crafting supplies we want to last for a period of time.

Over the next few weeks, I will provide you with tips and tricks on how to care for your crafting tools. Alcohol Markers in the market place have been available for some time.  When the Stampin’ Blends were introduced, they became an immediate hit with crafters.

Care & Storage for Stampin' Blends

Why is it important to care for you Stampin’ Blends?

  • When you go to use them, you want them to color properly. Because the blends are alcohol based, the contents will evaporate if not closed properly. What’s worse than going to color an image, you take off the cap and there is no ink flowing?
  • Make sure the caps are on properly and tight fitting.
  • When you store them make sure they are laying flat. Because the ink is available at both ends of the pen, then it is important to lay flat so that the ink goes to both ends, Some alcohol markers use only 1 end, therefore it is not as important to lay them flat, you can store these types standing upright as long as the nips are on the top.
  • I chose the Blends’ Tray as they fit with all the Stampin’ Up! storage modules.

Are There Alternatives?

Yes, there are alternative suggestions. You are able to purchase and/ or or make them yourself:

  • Purchase from online shopping sites.
  • Build them yourself. Before I purchased the current storage trays, I used the Acetate Card Boxes. Cut off the flaps and the lid. Stack as many boxes as you want by using Tear & Tape Adhesive or Stampin’ Seal +. Tape one side and lay on another box. Make sure that the boxes are straight or you could end up with the Leaning Tower of Pizza. Don’t attach more than 5 together.
  • Decorate with Designer Series Paper or Ribbon, or anything else you want to use.
  • Each tray holds 6 Stampin’ Blends, so a 5 layer cube would hold 30 Blends.

Because we love our coloring tools, I cannot stress enough how important the care & storage is.
