Angled Gatefold Card with Fitting Florets

Simply Said With Karen Posted on December 14, 2022 by Karen GilbertDecember 12, 2022

Have you ever created an Angled Gatefold card? This is a quick card for you to create and I have a diagram for you to follow, so that understanding the how is easier.

Create a Fancy Fold card

If you read my blog enough, then it doesn’t take long before you find out that I do like Fancy Folds. This card was created for the Inspirations in Ink Tutorial & Blog Hop.  While it did make the deadline for the tutorial, (just barely), I did make the deadline for the Blog Hop.  I really wanted to participate this month.  So I thought I would post even though it’s not a Blog Hop Post.

Even though it is an angled card it is easy to create. There is a sketch below which shows the measurements for cutting and scoring,Angled Gatefold Card

Each month a group of International Stampin’ Up! demonstrators get together to build tutorials.  We use the same bundle, this time it is the Fitting Florets Bundle. The reason everyone uses the same bundle is to show how you can use the stamps and dies in other unique ways

Bonsai Tree & a Sunset with the Treasured Kindness

Simply Said With Karen Posted on December 12, 2022 by Karen GilbertDecember 4, 2022

Demonstrator Training Blog Hop

Thank you for joining us for our Stampin’ Up!® Demonstrator Training Program Monthly Blog Hop! We are so happy that you could join us today for this blog hop for ideas and creative inspiration. We are a group of Stampin’ Up!® Demonstrators from around the world taking part in training to help us build a successful Stampin’ Up!® business and reach some goals we have set. Your support is appreciated.

You may be starting here or have come from another blog – either way you can find the link list at the bottom of this post so that you can see every blog post today.

Creating Bonsai trees  is an art and derived from ancient Chinese gardening practices.  To make a Bonsai tree, you must have patience, as the form is not completed overnight, in fact, it may take many years.  In order to keep the tree as a miniature, it must be  trimmed, pruned, and  pinch off new growth.  Further stunted growth means tying the branches and fertilizer withheld.

Miniaturization of a tree is an art which can be done to any tree.

Use Free-Form Stamping with the Splendid Thoughts Set

Simply Said With Karen Posted on September 7, 2022 by Karen GilbertSeptember 7, 2022

Use free-form stamping with the Splendid Thoughts set.  This is a technique that anyone can do because the stamping does not have to be exact.

The technique is great for beginner stampers because there is no right or wrong way to do this stamping.  There are no rigid rules about staying between the lines.

Use Free-form Stamping

Fresh Freesia:  4-1/4″ x 5-1/4″
Vellum Layering Designs: 2-1/2″ x 4″
Basic White: Scraps for leaves & bowl and sentiment.

Ribbon: 6″

Create The Card

  1. Emboss the Fresh Freesia cs with the Painted Posies 3-D Embossing Folder. Attach embossed panel to card base.
  2. Stamp the leaves on the Basic White cs with the Fresh Freesia & Soft Succulent inks. Die cut with open leaves dies.  Because this is free form, you don’t have to line up the die precisely with the stamped images.
  3. Die cut a couple of more leaves with the open leaves dies using scraps of DSP.
  4. Die cut the bowl shape from a scrap of Basic White.
  5. Arrange the leaves so that the leaf bottoms come together near the end of the vellum (see image).  Adhere to the vellum, and adhere the bowl over the leaves.
  6. Adhere the vellum panel on an angle over the embossed panel.  Attach with Mini Glue Dots behind the leaves and bowl…hopefully, the dots will not show.
  7. Tie the bow and attach over the bowl. Stamp the sentiment on a scrap of Basic White. Cut the ends on an angle and adhere with Mini Dimensionals below the bowl.
  8. Finally, place 3 2021-2023 In Color Opal Rounds on the card front.

Stand up and admire your card.

So, now it your turn to use free-form stamping to create your card.

Water coloring in July How many ways do you know

Simply Said With Karen Posted on July 29, 2022 by Karen GilbertJuly 29, 2022

Water coloring in July is a technique that you can use throughout the year. There are so many mediums to use and I will go into these later in the post.  I almost missed this one.

Water coloring in JulyWhile there is no water used on this card, it is suggested to be a faux water color card. The chalks are stamped on the images and give the effect of water coloring.

Water coloring in July

Water Color Card Recipe

Stamps: Wonderful World (SAB),

Inks: VersaMark, Orchid Oasis, Soft Pastels (Granny Apple Green, Night of Navy, Daffodil Delight).

Paper: Granny Apple Green, Orchid Oasis, Shimmery White.

Accessories: Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine, Painted Posies 3-D Embossing Folder, 1/8″ Metallic Ribbon (Orchid Oasis), Sponge Dauber, Take Your Pick Tool, Iridescent Pearl Jewels, Silicone Craft Mat, Embossing Additions Tool Kit.

Cutting Measurements

  • Granny Apple Green: 8-1/2″ x 5-1/2″ Score at 4-1/4″ and burnish with bone folder, 4″ x 5-1/4″
  • Orchid Oasis: 2-3/4″ x 4-1/4″
  • Shimmery White: 2-1/2″ x 4″.
  • Basic White: 4″ x 5-1/2″ for inside, scrap for sentiment.
  • 1/8″ Metallic Ribbon (Orchid Oasis): 15″. Separate all the strands.

Technique

  • Use the spatula end of the Take a Pick tool and scrap off  chalk from the Soft Pastel colors onto the Silicone Mat.
  • Use Embossing Buddy to rid the static from the Shimmery White cardstock.  Stamp the a flower from the Wonderful World stamp set on the Shimmery White cardstock using  VersaMark ink. You may have a hard time seeing the image so use the picture on the stamp to guide you. The more color is applied you will see the flower come to life.
  • Pick up the Granny Apple Green chalk with a sponge daube  and pat onto the stems of the flower. Use the Night of Navy chalk to pat onto the flower and the Daffodil Delight chalk for the flower center. Once you have finished coloring the flower, you can swipe of the excess with the brush from the Embossing Additions Tool Kit.

Assemble the Card

  1. Use the Painted Posies 3-D embossing Folder and emboss the Granny Apple Green panel.  Attach to card front.
  2. Attach the image panel to the Orchid Oasis panel with Stampin’ Seal.
  3. Gather up the strands of the ribbon and tie, with a bow,  around the left side the panel in step 2.
  4. Stamp a sentiment on a scrap of Basic White, cut out with the Paper Snips and attach to card front with Dimensionals.
  5. Stamp a sentiment on the Basic White panel and stamp a flower in Orchid Oasis on the right hand side of the panel.  Attach to the inside.
  6. Place iridescent pearls on the front of the card.
